What is duct cleaning ?
&
Why should I do it ?
Most of us are now aware that indoor air pollution is an issue that has become more apparent to the world. It's growing concern is for good reason.
Each HVAC system has many important parts and if not properly installed, maintained, and operated, these important parts of your HVAC system can become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen and other debris. And if moisture is present, the possibility for mold is elevated and spores from the growth may be released into the home's indoor air systems. Some of these contaminants may cause allergic reactions or other symptoms in people if they are exposed to them for a minimal amount of time or an extended amount of time.
If you decide to have your heating and cooling system cleaned, it is important to make sure the contractor agrees to clean all of it's parts. Failure to clean a component of a contaminated system can result in re-contamination of the entire system, therefore making it impossible for any potential health benefits.
There are several methods of duct cleaning. New standards have been established by our industry concerned with air duct cleaning.
Typically, a service provider will use specialized tools to dislodge dirt and other debris in ducts, then vacuum them out with a high powered vacuum cleaner.
This is the most effecient and effective way to keep your duct work clean thus far.
